fast idle hi all,

hi all, can anyone help please. ive got a 1997 v70, when i start her up from cold if i dont press the throttle a bit she starts up but will cut out, but once warm the idle is too fast, 12/1300 revs. other than that she runs fine, never misses a beat. any help please. kind regards ray.

Hello, Sounds a lot like the idle air control valve is mucky/faulty. Remove the valve and give it a good clean with carb cleaner/petrol/similar. Inside the control valve is a flap which needs to be really floppy make sure you get any/all muck off that bit. Couple more possibilities are; Dirty throttle body, again give this a good clean it get greasy mucky stuff all over it, while you're their locate the flame trap and get rid of it (if its not gone already) could also be a vacuum leak, so check for air leaks/soft air "pipes" Best of luck, Ant.
