D5 in gear performance times?

Hi folks, I`ve bought myself a 53 plate D5 V70 & was wondering what the in gear performance figures were for these cars, mines a manual. I don`t think the top speed & 0-60 figures are a real indication of "real world" performance of cars. How do they compare to others of the same ilk? Can I waste a T5 in 4th from 50-70mph? ;) Has there been any magazines that have published the figures? Thanks Lee

Not strictly what you wanted but this is my totally non-scientific, biased version... 1st gear - Gets things rolling, not much grunt 2nd gear - bit quicker, reaching the smiley face point... 3rd gear - YIPPEE, Playtime! :speechless-smiley-6 4th gear - Still fun, still accelerating, still glad I bought it :party009: 5th gear - Left behind the chav in a Nova, now enjoying a nice quiet cruise until it's playtime again :party009: I'd imagine Parkers might be able to provide something more scientific, or maybe Volvo themselves might do it in a date sheet squirrelled inside a price/spec guide Cheers, Jezza

'can you waste a T5 in 4th 50-70' In a word, no. My standard 850 T5 struggles for grip in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd when damp too. The thing with the early T5s is that the turbo spools up at 2.5k and the engine revs in-gear for longer than the D5, and with the HP coming in at the top of the revs too its just straight back on the money when you change gear.
